Command Integration Guide

This guide explains how to send specific commands to the Sony VISCA over IP handler.

Generic Command Format (VISCA over IP):

The handler sends binary VISCA over IP packets. Direct ASCII commands are not applicable.

To send commands via generic HTTP GET or TCP/UDP listeners, you need to provide the raw hexadecimal representation of the full VISCA packet, including the sequence number and headers. This is complex and usually requires a dedicated tool or specific buffer construction.

It is highly recommended to use the actions provided in the Fantago UI to trigger these commands, as they handle the complex binary encoding and sequence numbering automatically.

Integration Examples (assuming device name "SONY_PTZ"):

Via HTTP GET:

Not directly applicable for arbitrary commands due to binary nature. Use Fantago UI actions.

Via TCP/UDP Listener:

SONY_PTZ:01000000010000008101040002FF (Example for a "Power On" command - this requires exact byte representation)

Note: The string provided to Fantago must be the hexadecimal representation of the raw binary command.

Sony VISCA over IP control — frequently asked questions

Does Fantago support Sony VISCA over IP?

Yes. Fantago includes a ready-made Sony VISCA over IP handler (version 1.0.0) that talks to the device over UDP, default port 52381. It is bundled with every licence and with the 60-day free trial — there is no per-device fee.

What protocol does the Sony VISCA over IP handler use?

UDP, default port 52381. Fantago connects straight to the device over your production network, so no gateway, middleware or vendor software is needed in between.

Can I control Sony VISCA over IP from a Stream Deck?

Yes. Every Sony VISCA over IP action can be mapped to an Elgato Stream Deck key, to a button on a custom Fantago touch panel, to a timed schedule, or to a logic flow triggered by another device — including devices from a different manufacturer.

Can I modify the Sony VISCA over IP handler?

Yes. The handler is a plain JavaScript file (sony_visca.js) that you can download from this page, edit and drop back into Fantago. You can also write your own handler from scratch — see the Developer Guide.
